Being excited is an understatement. WebGPU is a massive improvement for (portable) computer graphics - and not just on the web either: with wgpu and Dawn (the WebGPU backends for Firefox and Chrome/Edge respectively) available as frameworks WebGPU also becomes very interesting for native software.

Once WebGPU ships in browsers I'm predicting we'll be seeing some serious wicked webapps. And not necessarily 3D graphics related thanks to the support of compute shaders.
